Hello to all!
We welcome all Halloween artists to send in your art submissions for our Fall 2025 issue.
Seeking original, one of a kind creations constructed from (but not limited to) the following mediums: clay, textiles, assemblage, paintings, culinary, bones, wood, metal, and more. Keep in mind that the more unique and unusual, the better chance of being published - and again, NO AI will be accepted. Submissions must be of your own handmade, original art.
Please refer to the information listed below on how to submit and, most notably, the deadline: MARCH 7, 2025
On this Halloween Eve eve, we ask ourselves this very question. So where does this tradition stem from?
For those who are curious, read about it in the Fall 2021 issue of Autumn Brilliance - learn about the ancient tale from Irish lore, that of old "Stingy Jack" who comes alive on All Hallow's Eve!

Back in stock again, and just in time for Halloween!
- Our highly-popular Fall 2021 issue, dubbed "Hag-A-Palooza!" consistently sells out, and no wonder. It's all about the wonderful, strong, resourceful Wise Woman, the witches of both Halloween and real life, from archaic times up to the present.
- - -We also presented the incredible Ray Villafane and his other-worldly carved pumpkins and creatures.
- - - And of course, our very special guest, Dolly Parton, who shared a one-of-a-kind interview with us about what it was like growing up in the Smoky Mountains and what she loves best about Halloween. Dolly also shared one of her favorite songs, the bittersweet "These Old Bones," which tells the tale of a lone mountain woman who was considered a witch, from her childhood.

Greetings, all!
Just one short snippet of thanks here...
***Got home late last night from our week-long whirlwind autumn road trip (of which we traversed close to 1800 miles across the country). The culmination, of course, was the wonderful, marvelous, amazing, incredible, magical Bewitching Peddlers of Halloween show in Michigan.
***A show we participate in, and look forward to for 365 days every year. We LIVE for it! A place where old friends and new gather under one roof to share fun, humor and love interspersed with the most heavenly hand-crafted art you could imagine. A show that ends way too soon, in my humble opinion... and I know everyone who has attended will agree with this statement.
***Cannot begin to express my thanks here - finally got to meet so many wonderful lovely fans of the magazine, it made my head spin like a top. I will post fully in here in the days to come (right now, still completely deliriously overtired). - But for now, a simple offering of my sincere love and deepest gratitude to the woman who brings this loving event into being. - - -> Thank you, Jennie Hepler-Takens, for inviting me into the fold, and for continuing this extraordinary tradition.
***I remain thrilled and honored to be a part of it, and especially so this year because I finally own a piece of Jennie's original art, which spoke to me the moment I laid eyes on it. Everything she creates comes from her very heart and soul - And anyone who knows me knows that I love pumpkins and skellies.
- Rest assured, you all know it will be
showcased in the most reverential way among my collection of Halloween
art.
Art by Jennie Hepler-Takens, 'My Dearest Witch'

We are happy to welcome Christopher Cox-Thayer!
If you like vintage-style Halloween art, then you will absolutely love Christopher's unique take on it.
Everything he makes is from a homemade papier mache, incorporated with his wonderful sense of humor. Many of his creations are luminaries, meaning they are lit from within, adding a whole new dimension that makes the piece pop with personality. Christopher's art is fast gaining notice among Halloween art collectors everywhere, and we can see why.
More of Christopher's exceptional artistry can be seen in the Fall 2024 issue of Autumn Brilliance magazine, available in September.
Halloween greetings, everybody!
Who among us here has ventured to the beautiful village of Sleepy Hollow? The iconic setting for author Washington Irving's immortal classic, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, it is best known for the Headless Horseman whose restless ghost still roams the town...
Did you go during fall, when the entire Hudson Valley area of New York is awash in the most glorious foliage color, and did you stay for the wonderful Parade that occurs at the end of October each year? It is absolutely a Halloween Bucket List for all of you autumn-time travelers!
We are proud to announce that Autumn Brilliance is one of the Sponsors for the 2024 Tarrytown Sleepy Hollow Halloween Parade!

This year's festivities happen on Saturday, October 26th, beginning at 5pm. Trust us, you do NOT want to miss it. We traveled there during Halloween time in 2017, and are aching to return once again!

Greetings, everyone!
This is the part where we are most excited, because it means we get to reveal the cover for our Fall 2024 issue of Autumn Brilliance, available in September.
And, as you know, it also reveals this issue's esteemed Spotlight Artist. That's his magical art here on the cover. Is it not fabulous?!
Welcome to David Everett, of Chicken Lips!
You've all seen David's artistry - it's instantly recognizable and one of the most sought-after of its kind in the Halloween collector's world. The image you see on the cover was made specially for California amusement park, Knotts Berry Farm's annual Halloween event in 2022. As you can well surmise, it sold within a matter of moments, literally. Lucky be the person who claimed this charming creation for their very own!
David's incredible imagination transforms mere clay and paint, perfectly mixing spooky with silly, humor with horror, creating endearing characters that look like they stepped right out of a movie or animated feature. We can never get enough of his fanciful skeletons, hags, witches, crows, zombies... the list is wondrous and extensive, and brings on a serious case of the Halloween happies. If we had a bigger office, we'd get up and do some zoomies around the room!
We're very proud and again honored to feature a truly stellar artist such as David Everett.
This extraordinary issue also features an awe-inspiring who's who list of seasonal folk artist whose talents with varied mediums abound (including paint, fabric, textiles, cotton, clay, and even edible food art) who will knock your socks off:

We couldn't wait for Halloween, so we had a monstrous-sized blast at the Nashville Horror Convention in July!
Met up with some old friends, including Borah, the most faBOOloous witch from Salem's Black Hat Society. We originally met Borah in Salem during our visit there during Halloween week, 2016, and it was a lovely surprise seeing Borah in Nashville!
Fellow "greenie" Borah and me! |
Another good friend we ran into was none other than Drew Badger of the Big Scary Show, who interviewed us again about Autumn Brilliance magazine, and also the exuberant return of our upcoming Halloween art show, Monsters & Merriment. We last were interviewed by Drew in 2019 at the CreepyCon in Knoxville.
Me and the Big Scary Show's Drew Badger |
We even got to meet someone who we have held in absolute awe for decades... the multi-Academy Award winning makeup artist, Ve Neill!
Meeting the legendary Ve Neill! |
Ve's astonishing list of cinematic makeup achievements include so many of our favorite movies, such as Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, Batman Returns, Mrs. Doubtfire, Pirates of the Caribbean, Ed Wood, and more (her list of award nominations alone is just incredible), What an honor to spend a few moments chatting with this legend, who has so inspired me over the years with her monster makeup techniques!
Even though it was July, and hotter than the hinges of Hades, we had a grand old time. Doesn't matter what time of the year it is - for us, it's always Halloween!
Greetings, all!
Today's Artist Reveal is someone whose talent knows no boundaries.
Mandy Palumbo, of October Oddities
Mandy is adept at working her magic, creating unique clay/mixed-media assemblage sculptures as well as intricate paintings on canvas. She passionately conjures up a proliferation of dark Halloween virtuosity that her collectors around the world seek to call their own. (We're proud to own several of her marvelous works of art in our personal collection!)
You can see more of Mandy's awe-inspiring creations in the upcoming Fall 2024 issue of AUTUMN BRILLIANCE magazine, available to order here in September.
Mandy will also be featured among many other fine Halloween artists at this year's Bewitching Peddlers of Halloween art show in Marshall, Michigan on September 28th, 2024.
Greetings, Halloween fans!
Our next Artist Reveal is someone who is truly special, whose art is the first of its kind to be featured in the pages of our magazine.
Please welcome, Corinda Baum, a bonafide Food Network champion and competitor!
Corinda has been featured on Food Network's "Halloween Wars," "Road to Halloween Wars," and "Holiday Wars" where we watched her harness her magic by using cake, chocolate, fondant, modeling chocolate (and a wickedly vivid imagination!) to sculpt and craft astonishing Halloween creations that looked more like they were made from clay or plaster, not cake! Take a look at the amazing Krampus cake you see here as evidence of her culinary talents. We would love to sink our fangs into that!
Needless to say, we are thrilled to present Corinda's mouthwatering monsters and creepy cakes in the Fall 2024 issue of AUTUMN BRILLIANCE magazine.
